Does the door handle or exterior of the oven get hot?

The door handle is large and stays cool to the touch, but as with most toaster ovens, the top of this unit does get quite hot.  Breville makes a bamboo cutting board that sits perfectly on top of the Smart Oven and many people find it to be an excellent solution.

Will a 9″ x 13″ pan fit inside?

Is the oven energy efficient?

Yes, it is much more efficient than your regular oven.

Can you use 2 racks at the same time?

Yes and no. You can order another rack from Breville and could put another rack in the oven, but you will have a problem with spacing.  There isn’t much room between the rack positions.   Additionally, the oven is not designed for using double racks at the same time.  However,  you do have 3 different rack positions to choose from.

Can you roast a whole chicken?

Yes, it is possible, but it would be tight.  For better results, it would be better to cut the chicken in half or quarters and roast it that way.

What’s the best price and place to buy the Smart Oven?

In general, you can expect to pay around $250 for the Breville Smart Oven.  There are a number of places to buy it from, but due to convenience and superior customer service, Amazon.com is a customer favorite.

Is there a light inside?

How long is the warranty for?

There is a limited 1 year warranty.

Is the convection fan noisy?

Where is the Smart Oven made?

Does it toast bread fast?

Depends on what you are comparing it to.  If you are comparing it to a toaster, then no.  A toaster will usually toast bread faster than a toaster oven.  However, if you are comparing it to other toaster ovens, it is not slower than others out there.  People find that they use this oven for much more than just toasting, which by the way does a superb job.

Will a 12 cup muffin pan fit?

Yes, a 12 cup muffin pan will fit and the Smart Oven does an excellent job of baking moist and delicious cupcakes or muffins.

Can you bake a pie in it?

Absolutely!  It does it beautifully.

How long does it take to preheat?

Very fast.  It is quicker than your oven.

Is the reheat mode like that of a microwave?

No, microwaves have a tendency to make reheated food soft and mushy.  The reheat mode on the Breville works like an oven and will produce much more desirable results for certain foods.

Does it come with a rotisserie?

No, it doesn’t.  If you’d like to rotisserie, then see our reviews of rotisserie toaster ovens.

Like in the preceding comment, the convection fan in my Smart Oven is starting to get noisy. The oven is 22 months old. I will be calling Breville about it.

Otherwise, I love the oven. Re the question about roasting a whole chicken, yes, it will be a somewhat tight fit. But a whole chicken roasts wonderfully, due to the convection. I sometimes roast a chicken cut in half or parts, but that is only for speed, not quality of roast.
