Cooking and Baking

With a 94% positive approval rating (as of April 12, 2015), it is clear that people LOVE using this Presto oven.  While it’s not a toaster oven, and is not designed for toasting, it will do an excellent job of baking items such as pizza, small frozen foods like chicken nuggets/wings, fish fillets, cheese sticks/nuggets, egg rolls, etc.

It will also work great with freshly made foods, like homemade pizza, quesadillas, or grilled sandwiches.  Basically, the options are only really limited to the size of the tray and what you can place on it.

Pizza lovers will like the fact that the Presto Pizzazz requires absolutely no preheating, which not only saves energy but also allows for eating sooner rather than later.  Additionally, with controls over the top and bottom heating elements, you can make the pizza exactly how you like it. For example, if you like your bottom a little crispier, no problem, just switch it over to the lower element until it reaches the desired level.  Since it is rotating out in the open, you can clearly see the progress of the pizza and easily determine whether it’s done or needs some more time.  There is also a handy reference sheet provided with recommended times and settings for different types of pizzas.

Presto Pizzazz Pizza Cooking Recommendations

* Caution should be given to rising crust pizzas or thick pizzas with lots of toppings as the pizza may get too close to the top element.

Another added benefit is that the Pizzazz won’t heat up the house like a traditional oven does, which makes it great to use during those hot summer months.

All in all, for the price, it is a nifty and fun appliance that is great for pizzas and other small items.

How to Use the Presto 03430 Pizzazz Plus Oven

This is one of the easiest ovens to use. For those that like simplicity, this oven is right up your alley.

For making pizza, simply put the pizza on the tray, choose from one of the three settings (Lower, Dual, Upper), and turn the timer to the recommended time.  You will want to refer to the reference chart that Presto provides for pizza times and settings.  You may need to adjust the time or settings a little to find the right balance for your liking, but the chart is a good starting point.  After a couple of uses, you should have it down.

For other foods, Presto provides a cooking chart in its instruction manual with suggested times and settings.  Below is just a snippet of the chart and does not include all of the other food items.

Presto Pizzazz Other Food Settings

It’s important to note that you should follow the suggestions of Presto and not the manufacturer of the food item that you are cooking.  The instructions given by the manufacturer of the item you are cooking are for cooking in a conventional oven – not a Presto Rotating oven.  Therefore, if you follow the instructions on the box and not Presto’s, you will most likely get undesirable results.

Customer Wishes and Complaints

One thing commonly mentioned is that the non-stick coating on the cooking pan is a bit thin and prone to getting scratched.  Therefore, you will want to be careful when cleaning and placing items on and off it.

Another issue some people had with the oven is that it can’t accommodate larger size pizzas. It fits a 12″ pizza just fine, but if you have a large family, a 12″ pizza probably isn’t sufficient.

There is also no way to stop the cycle early, i.e. there is no ON/OFF button. Therefore, you are forced to wait for the timer to finish for the heating elements to turn off or you must unplug the device. It would have been nice to have an easier way to stop the cycle early.

  • Excellent for pizzas (hard to find something better for the price)
  • No preheating is necessary
  • Easy to see when food is done
  • More control over cooking your food to your liking (e.g. getting a crispier bottom)
  • Handy cooking reference sheet for times and settings
  • Simple to use and saves energy…up to 60% less than a traditional oven
  • Doesn’t heat up the room like a conventional oven
  • Good value

  • Doesn’t accommodate pizzas greater than 12″
  • Non-stick coating on pan is a bit thin and prone to scratching
  • No On/Off button for quick stoppage
